1. LANCOM business features

 

  • Simple Configuration and installation:
    Webconfig – configuration via browser, simple P & P configuration by set-up wizard, low training efforts by standardised use of LC.OS in all Lancom products
  • Firewall , security and ISDN Dial Backup:
    Stateful inspection Firewall, IP packet filter with port ranges; masquerading (NAT/PAT) of TCP, UDP, ICMP, FTP, PPTP, H.323, NetMeeting IRC and IPsec; DNS forwarding; Inverse masquerading for IP services from the Intranet, support of 2 local networks, e.g. DMZ with own IP address range without NAT, QoS and VLAN priorisation for VoIP and VoWLAN
    WLAN security: encryption via IPsec-over-WLAN, WEP64, WEP128, WEP152, access control lists, RADIUS client, user authentic., 802.1x /EAP with TLS and TTLS

  • IPSec:
    IPsec encryption algorithms DES (56 bit),3-DES (168 bit), AES, Blowfish (128-448 bit), CAST (128 bit), MD-5 or SHA-1 Hashes IKE with pre-shared keys, IPsec client: based on NCP - German VPN software developer -entry client.
  • Voice over IP:
    Voice compression algorithms together with extended QoS make a high quality and simultaneous transfer of VoIP data and large data packages - Internet downloads - possible
  • Extended quality of Service (QoS): Extended Quality-of-Service - optimum Voice-over-IP for voice quality via VPN connections. Integrated send-side and receive-site bandwidth management. Dynamic download „slow down“ of incoming data packages in favor of VoIP. Automatic packages adaptation and PMTU setting or fragmentation (jitter reduction), PMTU reduction and automatic fragmentation of large data packets in favor of VoIP, ‘DiffServ’ handling of data for the preferred transmission of packages with DiffServ-marking.
     Evaluation of DiffServ priorities in Firewall and QoS rules, e.g. secured transmission of the VoIP signaling, dynamic reservation of bandwidth for VoIP
  • Virtual LANs (VLANs):
    VLAN application examples: common use of WLAN or same cabling infrastructure  by several companies: VLAN-ID connecting segments, VLAN-Prio enabled QoS
    N:N IP-Mapping:
    VPN network coupling also with identical IP networks, N:N address mapping on well-defined IP addresses („loop back-addresses “), Central SNMP management for several networks with identical IP addresses
